Help - No. 407 [Demon] Squadron Nose Artist
The RCAF’s second coastal squadron was formed at Thorney Island, Hampshire, England, on 8 May 1941. For the first seventeen months they flew Blenheim and Hudson aircraft attacking enemy shipping between Heligoland and the Bay of Biscay.
On 29 January 1943, they were re-designated to a General Reconnaissance, flying Vickers Wellington Mk. XI, XII, and XIV on anti-submarine patrols.
In mid-1942, General Recon. aircraft markings had undergone a complete revision with the complete aircraft painted in gleaming “Coastal White”.
