One of the thirteen - “Fangs of Fire”

The original “Fangs of Fire” in the Ottawa collection painted by Floyd Rutledge.

The same Nose Art appeared on Halifax VII, serial NP772, which flew with No. 408 [Goose] Squadron from 16 September 1944 to 28 April 1945. This was photographed by Lindsay as roll #3, Print #1.

This is a reproduction of the "Fangs of Fire" used by No. 149 Squadron in Pat Bay, B.C. from 1943-45.

Painted by Clarence Simonsen, this panel is an original skin from the Ventura aircraft in the Ventura Memorial Association in Edmonton, Alberta, donated in 1996.

 

No. 149 [Sea Wolf] squadron received an official Walt Disney design in 1943, but was also believed to have used the Disney Sea Wolf insignia.

 

The Nose Art "Fangs of Fire" also appeared on Lancaster Mk. X, KB898 shown below.

KB898 was assigned to No. 420 [Snowy Owl] Squadron, PT-W, April to September 45, [Never flew operations].
